In the northern part of the Montedor promontory is the Sinadora rock engraving site, discovered in 2006. These are panels of Atlantic rock art with abstract lines (concentric circles, reticulated patterns and circular motifs) engraved on granite blocks by the sea. It is estimated that these inscriptions were made between approximately 5000 BC and 1000 BC. The exact symbolism is uncertain, but it is believed to be related to local natural elements (sea, rivers and relief) and possibly water rituals. The drawings are quite schematic – typical of Atlantic art – and difficult to decipher.
